Where are you guys shopping? Those are crazy numbers. We are a family of 6 (3 adults and 3 kids elementary and middle school) and spend about $ $225-250 at an ALDIs or Lidl. That includes snacks and all meals (except for once a week we order pizza), fruits and vegetables, etc. We cook so we don’t buy any ready to cook or tv dinners or prepared stuff. I thought we were spending too much too! Are you guys eating leftovers? We tend to eat leftovers all the time, that is, we can’t cook a new meal unless all previous meals have been eaten. So we often don’t even have to cook everyday.
I’m the poster to this post coming back to share grocery list as requested and bc hubs just shopped last night. $160 at ALDIs 2 boxes of cereal 2 boxes of yoghurt tubes (for kids) 3 diff types of crackers 1 bottle marinade A couple of bottles of kombucha 3 bags of family size chips Bag of egg noodles A couple cans of creamed soup Deli mustard One packet deli sliced cheese 5 lbs Chicken thighs 2 lbs steaks Mushrooms Blue cheese crumbles Asparagus Bell peppers Zucchini Cucumbers Bananas Garlic Butter Can of Garbanzo beans Gallon milk Sugar Honey Large container of cashews 2 dozen eggs 2 loaves of bread I think that’s it. Note this bill is fairly low prob bc we have lots of stuff from previous weeks and we aren’t purchasing any large/bulk items. And this is for one week of groceries. We don’t usually buy bulk bc of lack of storage space and bc the most expensive part of our bill (fruits and veggies) have to be eaten fairly fresh. We prob spend abt another $25-50 at other grocery stores to buy stuff we can’t find at an Aldi’s or Lidl. Hope this is helpful. I imagine my bill will be a lot higher when my middle school athletes get to high school and still play competitively!
