I think all middle schools do offer Geometry in FCPS currently. My 8th grade SON takes geometry now. I have a daughter in 2nd grade. So if they pull back on advanced math offerings, my DAUGHTER won't have the same opportunity to take advanced math as her other brother? Way to hold back girls.
Oh stop, you know it has nothing to do with gender  Not all middle schools offer geometry. Some have you walk to the high school or take it online if they can't create a cohort large enough to justify a teacher. It's why some of the lower performing schools throw the requirement for the IOWA scores or SOL minimums out the window to have at least 10 7th graders in algebra if only 5 actually qualify. They can squeeze them into an existing 8th grade algebra class, but the following year they can't "use up" a teacher slot for 5 kids.
