I don’t even LIKE her, she’s just a completely generic politician, to my mind. She elicits completely neutral feelings from me. Slightly positive since she’s the first woman of color VP to the extent that identity politics matters to me which is very little. But I don’t love her or hate her more than any other generic politician or the way she conducts her duties as vice president, which is basically nothing. Maybe people just hate “generic politicians” but I don’t think she’s any worse than other generic politicians, which is most of them. So why is she so particularly loathed?
Moderate Dem here. She hasn't distinguished herself in any way. She's fine. Not very charismatic or inspiring. She also didn't do much in her time in the Senate or have any particular initiatives as VP (admittedly, it's hard to because it's really at the discretion of the President and often results in turf wars with Departmental Secretaries). However, where she has managed things, it hasn't been good. Her Presidential campaign was a flop. Managing the VP Office has led to lots of backbiting and resignations. Other than breaking a few barriers on the basis of her identity (which is a good thing, but frankly, I think there were better and more qualified candidates), there's not much else there. She's just kind of "meh" -- a milquetoast establishment Democrat. Also, I have no idea what she actually believes or causes that she really supports, aside from being front and center at whatever is the focus of POC issues of the day. There's a saying - Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line. I think that's apt with her. She isn't loved by many of her own party. Would I vote for her? Sure. Beats the alternative R any day. However, I think there are many better qualified candidates out there. I also don't have a lot of confidence in her if Biden doesn't finish his first (or hopefully second) term.
