I have been reading this forum and it’s so helpful, but am wondering if anyone has specific suggestions. My dad is 85 and has Parkinson’s. He was moved to an assisted living in January and he took a fall a few days ago- this caused a head injury. He’s currently in recovery at the hospital , and will be going to rehab next - but I’m talking to the doctors they feel he needs SNF. The social worker has been awful to deal with- she keeps telling my 80 year old mother to take him home- we tried everything before the assisted living (in home care, nurse aids) but the cost of that 24/7 wasn’t possible and my mom ended up doing it all and she just can’t anymore it was killing her. We have contacted the “best” Skilled nursing and we got a 17k a month quote and that’s just too much for us. has anyone had experience with SNF in Alexandria area? I know we can’t afford the Bentley of Skilled nursing, but are there no middle level options that would still be nice?Am I just looking for something that doesn’t exist? My parents had me later in life - I have 3 young kids at home and a full time job, not to mention our split level wouldn’t be an option for my dad - I’m also the first of my friend group to go thru this so appreciate any advice.
