I’ve been working out consistently for about nine weeks and I’m finally noticing a change in my body, and the scale has started to move down. I’m one who typically gains 5-8lb the week before my period. Due any moment is my period, and this is the first one where I haven’t noticed any weight gain. The scale hasn’t moved at all, though I feel a little bloated. I’m hoping after I get my period the typical 5-ishlbs come off. Just curious what it looks like for others when you’re actively losing weight.
OP you need to track. For me, I stay the same weight (maybe gain 1lb) and then drop 1-3 lbs in the week after my period. If you have changed your eating habits, especially if lower carb, then you may not be bloating as much. Dont get discouraged if one day you have pizza on day 1 of your cycle and it takes 5-7 days to lose the water weight. Your hormones plus the carbs will cause you to hold onto more water. This is normal and not something to be worked off. With that said tracking helps you look at overall trends. You need big picture. Over 30-60+ ideally. At some point the scale may go up if you gain more muscle. This is where clothes fitting (waist particularly) and/or taking monthly measurements will help as well.
I do track daily, that’s how I know I haven’t gained any weight, and how I know my body composition has changed. I’m just noticing that this is the first month I haven’t gained around my period (I notice since I’ve been tracking) and was curious how others who are losing look around their period, since you are always constantly losing (or at least that’s the goal!)
