PP, price out how much the Metro cost. Talk to people, including business owners, about what it was like when they were ripping up the streets for years to build the tunnels. Maybe you’ll have a better understanding. Also, remember when the Metro was actually planned. What would be the advantage of the Connecticut Ave corridor? Would that have been an advantage in the 1960’s and early 70’s? Keep in mind, too, how many people were adamantly against having the Metro anywhere near their neighborhoods, and that the Metro wasn’t intended to replace the bus system which is much more flexible and much less expensive.
