The second allegation just isn't credible to me. I believe women, and I went to Duke. I know rapes happen there. I don't buy the thing she claims he said after the fact, that knowing she'd had a prior assault made him decide to rape her. That doesn't even make sense to me. The hard truth is that false allegations get made. I'm Duke '06 so you don't have to tell me that that also happens. We have to sift through them the best we can and teach women and men new standards for consent and we have to provide viable and safe reporting options so that we're not stuck in this situation where we're trying to determine what's legitimate decades later.
