We have a 2 year old (October birthday) who has traditionally been a very good sleeper. We would read three books, snuggle, and then into bed and she would cry for a second and then be out. Over the last few days, she has developed a habit of going down fine, but then about 30 min later screaming / crying. Those wailing, heaving, hyperventilating sobs. Before if she woke up, I would comfort and she would go back to sleep. Now, she calms down and we talk about no more crying and it is ok, but as soon as the door closes, she scream cries again. If someone stays in the room with her, she falls asleep pretty quickly. Last night, she was up and crying for almost an hour (with three comfort stops). I don't want to not comfort her, but I also don't want to have to stay in the room until she sleeps (already in that vortex with middle child and I hate that we are there). Before it used to just be bed time, but the nanny reported having the same issue yesterday. What is best 1. just suck it up and stay in the room so she sleeps? 2. just suck it up and let her scream cry for an hour until she is out? 3. move bedtime back / forward? 4. try tylenol in case she sick / teething / ... I am not sure what to do but I want to make sure she gets back to a good sleep routine.
