There is TONS of research showing that early exposure to multiple languages can enhance children's communication skills, even when children are effectively monolingual. Don't discount the value of exposure and immersion at a young age, even if it doesn't stick. There is additional research showing that early exposure to multiple languages make learning languages and mastering sounds and accents in different languages easier when students get older. Learning doesn't happen in a vacuum. Music training has also been shown to enhance reading and pitch discrimination abilities in speech.[/quote]
