[/quote] +1 I don't know the cutoffs, but a good number of kids are in some portion of the gifted program. In our school the gifted program kind of sucks but it's better than nothing. DD was identified for gifted by a teacher, but I had to do a parent recommendation for DS. There should be a coordinator at your school you can reach out to; ours is listed as the gifted coordinator on the directory. I believe being in the gifted program, even if it doesn't help much in elementary, tags kids for more advanced cohorts in middle school. So if your kid qualifies you probably want them to get in even if their elementary experience isn't that different. [/quote]
