AP Precalc is a new money grab by the college board. It'll likely be very similar to the previous option, with the addition that you can pay to have your kid take a test to see whether or not the his grades were inflated.
This really stinks. My child had planned on taking Pre Calc Trig HN next year( before this new catalog came out) They had already planned for other AP classes(not in Math). They are currently in Algebra 2 HN and doing fine(B+) with a struggle. Their Algebra 1 HN was all online due to pandemic so it’s been a lot of catch up. It won’t “ look” good ( to colleges) to see a drop from HN to regular on transcript. I know that this is necessary for some due to real struggle, but this seems forced for this who would have done fine-good in Pre Calc Trig HN. Pre Calc Trig HN is offered online but Algebra 1 HN online was horrible for actual learning. Are kids going to just take the AP Pre Calc and “hope” it’s equivalent to Pre Calc Trig HN?
