DH and I are both ivy league educated. I attended a supposedly top high school in a very wealthy area. I didn't particularly think my high school was that great. However, if you graduated top 10% of the class, you got into Cornell.

DH went to a very average high school, probably somewhat similar to Edison. The top 3 kids went to ivy league schools. The rest of the school went to state schools. The school district was very poor but it happened to be poor white people and everyone spoke English.

I want to move but am having a hard time convincing DH. We live in one of the more expensive houses in the area. We bought our house expecting to send our kids to private school. DH does not want to give up his short commute. We could afford to move to McLean or Arlington. DH doesn't want to. He prefers our children to attend schools with diversity. He also seems to think our kids will have a better shot at getting into an ivy if they are at a school like Edison vs TJ or Langley.[/quote]
