Peanut butter blossoms, the ones with the Hershey kiss smooshed on top. The minute someone tells me they make these every year I know they are not a good baker. What cookies do you dislike receiving?
These are two separate questions to me (worst holiday cookies vs. dislike receiving) - I agree that the peanut butter blossoms don't scream "master baker" to me, but they're still pretty yummy and I'd be down to receive them. I actually know people who buy the sugar cookie logs and slice and bake with their kids - they're just not bakers at all and don't have family recipes to pass on. But they're also not participating in cookie swaps or anything. For worst holiday cookies to me it's the ones that don't seem holiday-ish: chocolate chip, stuff like that. Dislike receiving: my SIL (lovely person in all other respects) makes these things I think she calls "millionaire's bars" or something (but they aren't the shortbread kind) that are just ridiculously over-the-top sweet/cloying. Pretzel bits and melted caramel and chocolate chips and blondies and and and. There might even be marshmallows in there. It's toooooo sweet and I don't enjoy them at all but they're like, her *thing* at holiday parties so I always take one.
