OP, you aren’t too late. But yea definitely post in the other forum if you need help.
No she isn’t. OP many camps start enrollment right around the New Year. Some will give preference to returning families before opening it up, plus popular camps full fast, so it’s a good idea to start researching now and be ready when camps go up. Is your kid in K? PK? Are you looking for FT childcare or just want to sign up for a few weeks of camp to make summer more interesting/fun? If looking for FT childcare, I’d start with your school’s aftercare program. Many run summer programs. Also look at any private schools commuting distance— a number of the schools in NW have FT camps. If your child is ECE, check out nearby daycares, private PKs, and Montessori schools. Is your kid in activities? Many will do summer camps. We always do a week of swim camp with Goldfish (where our kid already takes lessons) and a week of dance camp. Soccer, basketball, gymnastics— all of these will offer camps. Look at nearby programs even if your kid isn’t enrolled. Also look at the YMCA, JCC, and other community centers. Nearby churches. And finally, DCPS offers camps but spots go super fast. However, it has one of the latest signups (late Feb or early March) so you have time to look for other options before that happens. Good luck! First year is hardest, it gets easier from there because you learn. Also, if you need childcare snd miss out on camps, it’s relatively easy to find/set up summer nannies and nanny shares because many teachers do this over the summer and of course many other parents will be looking for shares to cover the summer months.
