These comments about Nissans are surprising to me. So far we have had good results form Nissans. Way back in 2000 before we were married, my then girlfriend, now wife needed a car and couldn't afford much. We went to Carmax and found a 1999 Nissan Sentra that had the features she wanted. It was more than she could afford, and I remember that I went out on a limb and paid the difference between what she could afford and this car (and frankly, I didn't want her driving the car that she could afford). That car lasted us 10 years until we bought her the Toyota Prius that she had wanted. We then sold the Sentra to a work acquaintance and she drove it for another 5-6 years. She took it to the same car repair shop that we had used and they transferred our service record for the car from our name to the new owner's name. Whenever I brought our Prius in for servicing, the team would tell me about how good "our old car" was still running. So that Nissan Sentra lasted about 16 years and over 200K miles. The only reason that the third owner ended up selling it for parts (it was still in great running condition), was that she was taking a new job in California and she didn't trust driving the car cross country. So she sold it in Maryland and bought a new used car in California. And I've rented Nissan Rogues three times over the last few years, including one time for 2-3 weeks when my car was in the shop and that was what Enterprise sold me. It was a good substitute car and worked great for me. But then, that one was a current model year with less than 10K miles when I got it, so it was practically brand new. But my handful of experiences with Nissans are different from what is reported here.
