I live in San Francisco and only do outdoor dining. We have a ton of restaurants to choose from.
I will be in SF next week for a day and the forecast doesn’t look promising (cold & rain) for outdoor dining. I’ve booked an outdoor table at Foreign Cinema, but can you recommend anywhere that might have an outdoor patio that is covered and/or has heaters? We’re staying at the Riu Fisherman’s Wharf, and it’s 2 adults so generally prefer nicer restaurants/don’t need to be family-friendly.
All the outdoor parklets are covered and have heat lights. We don't have a ton of patios - it's more parklets. But eat at Catch on Market Street in the Castro - I just ate there last Saturday night and it was even better than it was pre-pandemic. Go to The Vault Garden in FiDi. For breakfast/brunch go to Pancake Boy on 24th St. in Noe Valley. There's outdoor seating in front of and behind the Ferry Building but that's not covered. Epic Steak on the Embarcadero is covered and has heat lights, and is easy to get to from Fisherman's Wharf. If you're not a steak person you can go to their sister restaurant next door, called Waterbar.
