I have a few coats in very good shape but the zipper is broken (one was a brand new kids coat). I'd donate them, but would need to have the zippers replaced first. What would that cost?
Do not repair something for a donation.
You sound like a jerk. If you're donating, it would be nice to donate something that works. Otherwise it's trash.
Maybe, but I’ve replaced coat zippers, and there’s just no way a kid’s coat with a busted zipper is worth fixing to donate. People need to get over this notion that some poor sole wants their garbage, and instead focus their attention on how to quit buying the garbage in the first place. If the zipper broke while the coat looks new, it’s not a good coat. Whatever it costs to repair the coats, any charity could do more with that cash than with the repaired coats. But OP wants to pat herself on the back, so, this again.
