How often does MCPS do background checks? I was shocked to see that our principal had a DWI in 2013 among several other cases like tax liens and foreclosures. Principal was employed by MCPS by the time of the DWI https://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/casesearch/
Educators are required to notify MCPS of DWIs but it is not an automatic termination. It's illegal and bad judgement, but unless someone is a school bus driver, it's doesn't typically lead to them being fired.
Why would anyone get fired? John Vigna wasn't fired even when he was convicted of sexually abusing his 2nd grade students in his Cloverly ES classroom. He was still on the MCPS payroll all through his trial.
