I remember the good old days when he used to send funny tweets like fur pillows were actually really uncomfortable. His music had so many layers. The 30 minute video to Runaway featuring ballet dancers and a table full of food! Is this like the "reborn" period for Dylan? I tend to think not, Kanye seems much worse off. I think he needs to be taking his meds, but I can't imagine being a brilliant artist feeling stifled by the meds that were meant to help you. That's no excuse for his comments re Jews and now this. Brittney had a conservatorship, but judging by how that went that wasn't a great answer either.
Neither Dylan nor Britney ever posted anti-semitic comments on Twitter or appeared to believe a bunch of anti-semitic tropes about Jewish people and money, which Kanye definitely does based on recent comments he's made. He has honestly become dangerous because he's actually still a powerful celebrity with a lot of fans who is engaging in dangerous political speech. It is troubling. I also used to like his music and think he's a talented producer, in particular, but it just doesn't matter anymore because he poses a threat to other people. If it were just himself and his family I'd be willing to say "well let them figure it out, get him the help he needs." But this is him trying to use his fame to mobilize people to "follow" him (the church, the school, his political activism like the "white lives matter" stunt he just pulled with Candace Owens) and he's clearly mentally unstable and believes some extremely dangerous things (the anti-semitism is scary to me and I'm not even Jewish -- we are living in an era when white supremacist ideas are on the rise and we have to take it seriously). I think he needs to be shunned by social media and the press and deprived of the oxygen he wants for his ideas. Everyone has free speech but no one is entitled to a platform for their speech. Kanye can say whatever he wants but no one has to publish it or air it. So we shouldn't.
