My in-laws are reaching a point where it makes sense for them to move to the area and be closer to us, so we can help out more. They are both in their early 80s, but they are “old” for their age. We are starting to research possible living options in the area for them, but are starting from ground zero. Right now they are living independently, but who knows how long that will last. I see lots of signs for Manor Care. Any experience with that? What about other options in Montgomery County? They are Catholic, so if there is anything church-related, that would be fine. And… their budget is limited. And… they are very picky re: quality. They have only ever lived in brand-new homes! We live in the close-in suburbs (very close to the Silver Spring metro), but I am wondering if finding a place for them in Germantown or there about might be a better deal. What are the price ranges for places like this?Any thoughts or suggestions, experiences, thoughts are extremely welcome.
Be prepared for sticker shock. My mother's costs are $7500/month for assisted living in the Boston area (comparative COL to here). I think you can expect for pricing to start at about $125/day per person, with no activities of daily living services included in that (e.g. help getting dressed, bathing, meds, eating, etc.).
