I feel like this is the best forum for this question (vs. Teen, or Adult Children forums), bc my kid is almost not a teenager and so many of us on this forum have kids away from home in college. DC1 is in her first relationship. This morning, texted that "they broke up." I said I was driving but could call or Facetime in 30 min, but she said no "because every time I think about it I want to throw up." She had also sent another text to the whole family and from that one, I could tell she was clearly mad at him. DC1 told her sibling that the boyfriend broke up with her (as opposed to a mutual break-up or DC1 breaking up with him) Okay it's evening so I did try and FaceTime, then when I got no response, sent her a text saying: "Hi honey! Tried to FT you. We don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to—Just wanted to say hi, give you a virtual hug if you want one. Know that you are loved, sweetie" So my real question is, is this typical? If she were at home, I'd be hearing all about it, so it feels weird not to hear anything (weird, but refreshing at the same time). I'm okay if she is handling this herself, but want to make sure I'm not missing something here that I should be doing.
