Assuming your player created a reasonable list of target schools last fall that was vetted by club/high school coaches and then she followed up with them regularly throughout the year with film updates and tournament schedules and copied club/high school coaches and some of them were on the sidelines at games, then you would hope that the correct "tier" of schools has been established and that some of those coaches have made recent calls to the club/high school coaches to gather more info. In our experience they will communicate intentions such as I will reach out on September 1, I will make contact in September, or She is on our board. Sometimes coaches will reach out directly to the player without having talked to current coaches first but the current coaches are a good gauge of how September is likely to play out. After they run through their initial lists and the feeding frenzy quiets down there is definitely a second round to fill holes but usually not at the top programs and possibly not at schools your player would want to attend outside of playing lacrosse, is is harder to make a great match in the second round, obviously, as there are still many more interested players than slots left. You can also check a school on Inside Lacrosse recruiting to see exactly when the previous year players committed to get an idea of how many were after the fall but every year is obviously different. Good luck it can be a stressful time.
