Our HS officially only makes changes if they made a mistake based on courses requested or a student wants to change levels (for example honors to regular). They don’t allow teacher requests. But my DS did have a terrible bio teacher freshman year and had success getting a change for 2nd semester after suffering for months. So it’s always a possibility but I think he would need to have given it a try and doubt they would make the change based on his online search. I have a rising 9th grader. How did he get his schedule already? I just checked Parentvue and it’s not there.
OP here, our HS seams to be on top of things and pushed the schedule into the system today. Our younger DC is in MS and his schedule is not up yet.
What school? Also - I agree with others about seeing how it goes for a little before trying to get the schedule changed. Counselors will be inundated this week with requests and keep in mind that there will be other times where you will legitimately need help from your counselor, including during the college process. And most schools will not let you change your schedule based on a teacher’s bad rep anyway….
Totally agree with this sentence. I don't even know how the OP/OP's son would phrase this request. "Please change the schedule so I'm not with Mrs. Smith. I read on the internet that Mrs. Smith is not good for anyone." The request needs to be for a valid reason. Also, to note, schedules are constantly in flux, even though they've been pushed to ParentVue. It's very possible there will be a last minute change. My DC experienced this once and got a MUCH better teacher than was listed in ParentVue (based on DC's personal experience with both). DC was in total shock and very excited to report the last minute change!
