[/quote] I've been to Tromso multiple times (I lived and worked in Norway for three years). It's not nearly as cold in the winter as one might think. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the normal high temperature in January is in the upper 20s - not uncommon to get above freezing - and at night it's usually in the low 20s or teens. I don't think it ever drops below zero Fahrenheit. That being said, what others have posted about it being dark (in the winter) and expensive is absolutely true. And given the cost of alcohol in Norway (prices in bars are pretty outrageous), one can't afford to find solace by drinking. [/quote]
