Here's one for discussion -- how many VHSL teams would finish above .500 if they played in the ISL AA?
Okay, I'll play....Using last spring's teams: I think that class leaders of 6A (Yorktown/Langley) would go at least 5-3 if either of them were the 9th team in the league. Not so sure the other 6A teams like Oakton/Madison could beat .500. 4A Dominion would likely go 5-3 as well. Not certain about 5A Riverside, probably 4-4. Lots of scores and match ups from last year to use for comparison. For Sping 2023, I have no idea. Of course you never know, teams always have "off" days and some "perfect" days.
That's right (of course the PP reminds that there is no point too pedantic to make on DCUM). Last spring was arguably a down year for the top half of the ISL AA and I think maybe 2 to 3 teams would crack .500, in each case by sweeping the bottom half. Putting aside an aberrational day for both squads, hard to see any VSHL team taking more than one game out of the 6 they'd play against Saints, Visi and SR. So, best case, a 4th or 5th place finish. Expect they'd do a bit better in WCAC.
