My child is a rising senior and will take all classes through MC this school year. If your child went through this program, please share your experience with the college application process. Did you child apply as a freshman? what are their college plans? Attend for a shorter amount of time? Attend as a part time student? Get a masters degree in that time? I'm curious to know how other students handled the transition. TIA
They apply as a freshman to colleges (not a transfer) because they don't yet have their high school diploma. Once they decide where to attend, they send their MC transcript and the school will determine what credits are accepted and what courses are still needed for the desired degree. If they completed the associates degree, it's like a "bundle", and that meets the gen ed requirements of public state schools. Private schools may do their own thing - you have to check at each school. If they didn't complete the associates degree, then it is a course-by-course evaluation, similar to AP/IB credits. My DC is planning to still spend 4 years at college, but will take a few more exploratory courses freshman year, plans to either double major or complete a masters in that time, and might do some co-ops.
