No standing water is easier said than done, especially if you have neighbors who don't do anything. Rarely have I found to reduce the amount of standing water to have any significant impact on adult mosquito populations.  No one wants to spray to kill mosquitoes, so the only alternative rally are attempting traps.  I just setup a multilayered defense this week OP, we will see how it goes:

Layer 1: kill larvae with hay in a bucket of water containing mosquito dunks.  People use mosquito dunks in standing bodies of water, but by putting hay in a bucket, you can hopefully lure mosquitoes to water containing mosquito dunks. Mosquitoes are supposedly attracted to the smell of fermenting hay:

Layer 2: in order to catch the adult mosquitoes, I did what this YouTube guy did and made this active mosquito trap on a nice budget:

It took a little bit of work, but it was a fun project.  I literally just.set this kind of trap up, so we will see how it goes.  The fan is definitely creating a vacuum, so I am hopeful this will work.

Layer 1 = kill larvae, layer 2 = kill adults.   No pesticides and friendly for the good insects/pollinators.  I cannot stand these Asian tiger mosquitoes anymore, which is why I got active about trying some kind of method to kill these horrible creatures.[/quote]
