I am a fairly to very liberal democrat, and I'm voting for Blair. The far left is well-tended in Montgomery County, and a very slight moderating influence is welcome.
Thank you. A couple years ago, I listened to some summer study committees at the Maryland General Assembly -- they were talking about police reform. And there are actual, real Republicans down there. It was so helpful to hear different voices and opinions. Senator Will Smith (D) took their comments and concerns under advisement, and ultimately did modify some draft bills because of it. Not a lot, but he recognized some of the potential consequences of initial proposals, and modified them to avoid unintended harms. We still ended up with a very liberal outcome, but one that was well thought out. A much different result than a one party echo chamber. Blair isn't a Republican. To me he's a typical liberal. And he is progressive in some areas, not so much in others. If elected, I think we will find he works better with Council, and he listens to true subject matter experts to bring the best government possible. Both of those things, if done right, will deliver better government services. Progressive policy goals will likely still get implemented. Just in better form.
