OP here. We would fly into Punta Cana and would be staying in the Cap Cana area which says its "gated" whatever that means. We would not have any plans to leave the resort. I'm feeling conflicted based on things you head about DR and yet the absolutely glowing reviews this resort receives on Trip Advisor and that fact that it isn't cheap. And it appears to have a significant amount of repeat visitors. Its exactly what we've been looking for apart from the location. [/quote]

Right, because God forbid you actually go to a developing country and experience life there beyond the walls of a gated compound. Clearly you just want to enjoy a nice beach without being bothered by the locals. Stay home OP. Please![/quote]
