My daughter was bullied within in an inch of her life in late elementary in a well regarded AAP center. A group of girls intentionally and repeatedly sat near the nut free table with peanuts and Nutella to torment her. The school did nothing until another girl wrote a note to my daughter telling her to jump off a building because everyone hated her and no one would miss her. During the ensuing bullying investigation, the vice principal outed my daughter to other students. That investigation was ongoing when COVID hit and, to my knowledge, was never completed. We left FCPS and will not return. So, no, I don't think bullying is better just because it is AAP.
AAP Center School certainly may also have bullies. However comparing with other schools, AAP center schools should be better. It's just like the drug issues in the high school. I don't think TJ is absolutely drug free, but TJ should be much better than other schools on drug issues.
I disagree. AAP is less likely to have the jock type boy bullies that tend to be more physical. But, physical bullying is not the only type of bullying. Some of the biggest bullies out there are the bright, sneaky, manipulative girls who engage in very toxic, targeted behaviors to socially and psychologically destroy others. The three girls who bullied my DD in second grade all got into AAP. The worst part is that teachers and most adults think that girls like this are perfect angels who could never possibly do anything wrong.
