If someone reports their child as testing positive for COVID, does the rest of the elementary school class need to either quarantine or test? Are the rules district wide or school by school?
It's district wide- still quarantining if unvaxxed. The whole class wouldn't be a close contact in most cases though.
No. If they are unvax and no symptoms they test to stay. https://www.apsva.us/school-year-2021-22/health-safety-information/test-to-stay-program/ The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Test-to-Stay Program (TTS) allows students identified as close contacts to remain in school instead of quarantining at home. WHO: To be eligible, students must be unvaccinated, asymptomatic, and identified as a close contact via exposure that occurred at school. (More info for vaccinated students) WHEN: Free proctored COVID-19 testing will be provided for these students at Syphax from 8:15 a.m.-7 p.m. on school days. The program requires close contacts to take the COVID-19 rapid test for five consecutive days following the exposure.
