There is a real downtown now with so many more shops and restaurants than 30+ years ago.  A target within walking distance to campus.  When I was there we had to walk the 1.5+ miles to Jewel Osco and carry everything back (or take a cart with us to get heavy loads back) or take a cab back.  [/quote]
+1. We were walking around in the evening, got some ice cream, and I emphasized to my kids the benefit of being walking distance to a Target, as their siblings in college are not. So many restaurants and at least a half dozen boba shops.[/quote]
