Best private schools in the DMV for academics: 1) Sidwell: K-12 Coed 2) Cathedral schools: (Beauvoir for elementary coed, NCS 4th-12th girls only, St Albans 4th-12th boys only) 3) GDS: K-12 Coed (most liberal/alternative with strong academics) Probably in this order. These 3 if you are looking for the strongest academics… otherwise there are many other good schools that are less intense.
OP: Can someone provide a similar list but with only lower school/elementary schools? No K-12s?
Beauvoir is Pk-3rd NPS Sheridan WES
OP - I you want something either in or close-by to Bethesda, and has only a lower/elementary school, your private choices are going to be really limited because schools like WES, Sheridan, Norwood and Green Acres (all good schools) are K-8s. BVR and Concord Hill go through 3; Primary Day through 2. NPS is the only one I can think of that has only elementary grades (PreK-6). The ESs in MCPS go through 5, so a bunch of those kids apply to private for 6, and that’s an expansion year for many of the privates. There may be other options if you are willing to look at Catholic schools.
