This summer, Washington DC Youth Rugby (https://www.washingtondcyouthrugby.org) - which has taught rugby to thousands of DC children since 2004 - will be running its first ever touch rugby program in Northwest DC. Practices will be held from 7-8:30pm on Wednesday evenings from June 1st through July 27th at Hardy Park in Palisades / Foxhall in DC. The program is open to boys and girls aged 5 to 14 and is completely free. To enroll your children in the summer program, please sign up here: https://dcyouthrugby.leagueapps.com/clubteams. For those of you don't know the game, touch (or tag or "FIT") rugby is a safe, simple, and energetic game. It differs from standard rugby in that players tag rather than tackle one another. It is similar to flag football as there a line of scrimmage and teams have a set number of downs before the ball must be turned over, but differs in that there is no quarterback and players cannot pass (or knock) the ball forward. "Run forward, pass backwards" is the mantra! As players are constantly on the move, touch rugby is a great way to build fitness and carries few of the injury risks associated with other sports. More about info on the game can be found here: https://youtu.be/7y0khk3Lh-o
