Skipped the crib transitioned straight to a full size bed around age 3, granted by dc was quite large for their age. They stopped cosleeping completely around 4-5.
OP here- lol this is actually my nightmare and what I'm trying to avoid, but I'm a 100% believer in people doing whatever works for their family.
Then why are you co-sleeping at all?
You really can't see why someone would want to co-sleep with a newborn and not with a 5 year old? Really?
There are a lot of nights between newborn and 5. My 4 year old is still a cuddly koala. OP- we transitioned my son to a full size bed at 16 months. It was an economical decision as well since the full size will last 8-10 years. It allows us to read and snuggle together before bedtime. And for one of us to stay with him should he be sick or what normally happens is he comes into our bed and one of the adults sleeps separately, whichever one needs to go into work and get a full nights sleep.
