I know several people who have gone through the ACET program successfully as career changers: https://www.montgomerycollege.edu/academics/abeess/school-of-education/alternative-certification-effective-teachers.html
This program!
My spouse did this many years ago. Is now an AP. The great thing is that it's fairly quick, as far as these things go, and you start out at full salary. Some of the other programs have you work as a long term sub for a vacancy (so basically the same responsibility as a full time teacher but none of the benefits and a fraction of the pay) for a year or two. MCPS has a lot of teacher training partnerships, but many are only open to current support staff. ACET is open to non-employees. There's one at Johns Hopkins that has tuition reimbursement from MCPS, but it's for those wishing to be special educators. https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/personnel/teacherprep/
