I wanted to order a 4Runner in a very specific trim level/option package and color, and was told “Nope”. Toyota doesn’t do that anymore. Doesn’t even matter that it would’ve been paid for in full before the first piece of sheet metal got stamped for it, they won’t take orders now. Goodbye Toyota, hello Jeep. Got a build date for April 21 for a custom order, delivery first week of May.
That is extremely shortsighted. But sure “hello Jeep dealership” because you will be there regularly for repair. But you will look cool I guess, which seems to be the priority from your car choice. Do you even really off-road to need a body on frame SUV?
Well there is really no debate that if you want a reliable car, Toyota is the way to go. However, there is also an ethical dilemma that comes into play. Toyota donated to candidates who supported the insurrection. They've lied about it and also come out and said how elected officials vote will not affect whether or not they donate to them. So if you are a woman or a minority - realize that the money you give to Toyota is being used to support officials who want to keep you in your place! It's a pretty scary time right now and I think this dirty money is doing a lot of damage. We love our Toyota but I won't buy another one. I'm sad about it but I have to have some principles.
