Joe Manchin, along with all the GOP Senators, decided they didn’t want for you to have it. They were concerned that if you had “breathing room”, you wouldn’t be willing to work any crap job for slave wages just to not see your kids starve. That hurts the bottom line, and we can’t have that. Pro life indeed. Next question?
this. Joe Manchin thinks it is going to lazy people who don't want to work.
Let's be clear about Manchin's position. He did not want it because it did not include a work requirement AND he wanted a cap on income.
Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.V., said Tuesday that he will not support an extension of the enhanced child tax credit (CTC), a key component of the bill, without the addition of a work requirement for parents. Manchin told Business Insider that his position on the requirement has not changed for some time. Democrats need all 50 senators on board to pass their legislation via the reconciliation process, and the West Virginia senator has been a holdout in getting the social spending bill to Biden’s desk. In addition to a “firm work requirement,” Manchin has also called for a household income cap of around $60,000 to receive the credit. Specifics on what exactly the work requirement would entail haven’t been made public.
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/04/manchin-wont-support-enhanced-child-tax-credit-without-work-requirement.html
