My mom is Russian, grandmother (her mom) Ukrainian. You cannot fully comprehend what people from that region feel. Russia we all knew ceased to exist; Ukraine is destroyed in front of whole world. It's a 3rd large European war. Your wife needs a psychologist: does she have such service at work? My job offered me psychological support.
Always remember to rule out physical causes first, before addressing mental causes.
NP but following and just want to ask this PP to elaborate. In this situation, what physical causes are you referring to? (I'm not being snarky, I just want to know) Do you mean physically, with the DW, or do you mean "the environment." As in "it's normal to be completely stressed out in this situation, so don't jump to mental illness"--is that what you mean?
No, good Lord! I mean physically. DCUM has this dangerous habit of always jumping to "therapy", when it's actually the last step in the diagnosis and treatment process. What does this person suffer from? Is there a hormonal, metabolic, infectious or other physical cause to her behavior? If everything is normal, what is her mental health like? Can we rule out a manic episode or other psychiatric disorders? Depression, anxiety and grief over the situation in Ukraine should be the "diagnosis by exclusion", meaning that it's the last diagnosis that fits symptoms after everything else has been ruled out.
