[/quote] We stayed at the Orchard Garden Hotel in SF about 10 years ago. As I recall, the rate was surprisingly low, esp. compared to the national brands. It was lovely and in a nice area of the city. We did all those things you mentioned. We did not have a car. I have no idea what that area is like now.
