Eventually I think there will be no magazines at all.
This is partly related to a changing environment, but it's also related to the magazines and newspapers themselves. I subscribed to Vanity Fair for many years, but in the later years they would force me to sign up for auto renewal to get the best rate one year and the next year increase the rate well beyond the rates advertised in the cards inserted in the magazine (remember those?? great bookmarks). After a few years of calling and asking for (and getting) a reduction to the advertised rate, one year they told me that rate was only to entice new subscribers and not available for existing. That was the end for me. You can't reward me for 20+ years of loyal subscriptions? As for newspapers, we gave up our paper subscription when each edition became smaller and smaller and the final straw: they stopped running some of the comics I liked :D
