I just witnessed the rudest, most upsetting behavior in Clarendon. A young man was double-parked WITH HIS FLASHERS flashing on Wilson Blvd at the intersection where CVS sits across from the Metro. As traffic went by, a cyclist in one of those bright yellow jackets, while stopped at the red light, screamed at the driver minding his business to MOVE his CAR. I can’t imagine how startled that motorist must have been, with a maniac yelling at him to move as rush hour cars whizzed by. Where was he going to go? Can’t we find a little bit of civility and take a breath if someone else deigns to SHARE the ROAD!!??? Wouldn’t life be better if the cyclist let the car thing go, swung out around the live-parked car and continued on his way? Instead he went ahead and poisoned EVERYONE’S afternoon to not even enforce whatever justice he thinks should exist for everyone else. I pledge to forgive that angry cyclist man and to practice civility if I’m ever so unfortunate as to encounter him. I hope we all can do the same with those who violate some personal preference we have.
This is sarcasm, right? Someone is blocking traffic with his car and your day is ruined because you heard someone yell? If the guy had been in a car and had honked at the driver would that have ruined your day as well? Also it isn’t the biker’s responsibility to figure out where the guy blocking the lane should go- you want to drive a vehicle in a city then it is your job to find a place to legally store it If a biker stopped his bike in front of you and you had to go around him would you go about your merry way without getting angry or honking at him?
