Been going downtown for a conference for the last few days and sitting in an Uber right now. Of the 8 Ubers I’ve been in the last few days, only one driver had an EZ Pass and took 66 without me telling him to. And he was a DC-based driver, you would think the VA-based ones would be more likely to have them. Of course I’ll pay whatever tolls, but they aren’t even needed on 66 with two of us in the car. I’m mostly just annoyed that they all want to take the effing scenic route and I have to dictate to them how to get on the highway and to ignore their map telling them to get off and take the backroads. /rant over
The driver has to paid for that and it most likely eats in to their profit or lack of profit.
It gets billed direct to the customer. I live in Ashburn and most drivers here have it. They have to ask that you will agree to the toll charges and if you do, it just applies to your account.
Unless that has changed, Uber doesn't pay drivers for tolls incurred on I66 because of the fluctuation of prices.
