I have a step son who's a sophomore in HS in PWCS. He has apparently missed like 25 days of school since the beginning of the year. Because of block scheduling not every class is 25 days out but, in total, that's what it appears to add up to. While some are excused, it seems like there are plenty that are not. How is this possible without any kind of intervention? Granted, he lives with his mom but his dad has not been notified by the school or anything. Doesn't that seem unusually high, even with the COVID issues this year? Seems like his grades are fine. Are kids just allowed to skip school now? Also, no he never got COVID and was never out of school for COVID quarantine or anything. He literally just doesn't go to school some days.
Follow up on absences has pretty much stopped since COVID.
+1. Look at the covid checklist. They tell students to stay home whenever they feel anything. Schools stopped checking unless it’s something like 2+ consecutive weeks and not called in.
