Asking here since I know you all know more about the state requirements for masks - what does this mean for preschools if anything? It seems like daycare and preschools aren't covered by the bill. Are there any other bills or requirements for preschools?
The bill applies to K-12.
Is there a similar bill that applies to preschools? Is there anything that would prevent a preschool going mask optional right now?
There has never been a state mandate for masks in children under 5. Never. These decisions were entirely up to the preschools and daycares.
One of the things about Northam I liked - he never masked the toddlers.
Right - funny how the CDC said "mask toddlers" and yet VA didn't and yet, every single preschool in NoVA and DC and MOCO did/does (with few exceptions). So when the CDC eventually backs off, our babies will still be muzzled.
No, not every single one. I know many in both western Fairfax and eastern Loudoun that never did. Our own daycare never required masks for children under 5. This has been discussed as nauseum on multiple threads, and other NoVA posters indicated the same. It really wasn’t as widespread in NoVA as some seem to think.
Jealous, then, of those areas - i'm in Arlington and called more than a dozen. Only the in-homes didn't require it. Aside from the Catholics, they all still do.
Can’t speak to Arlington, but this definitely didn’t seem to be as widespread outside of the Beltway. Amongst my circle of friends, family, and coworkers, we have children in daycares in Reston, Herndon, Chantilly, Sterling, and Ashburn. None of us were at a facility that required toddlers to mask. I have a neighbor with a young son at a church-based part-time preschool in Herndon, and he is required to wear a mask.
