I’m liberal and I support this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/02/14/dc-home-rule-clyde-norton-repeal/ Honestly, if crime keeps rising because of weak Charles Allen types or liberal DAs like Racine who just allow catch and release of car jackers then, so what, Congress should step in. Republicans are tough on crime. Better than liberals have shown themselves to be in the face of rising crime. I’ll be bummed if we lose the right as dc citizens to legalize and tax weed and about abortion, but seriously, this crime wave is nuts.
Why in the world would you want Ted Cruz, Tommy Tuberville, and Josh Hawley to be responsible for running DC? These guys tried to overthrow the presidential election. Can you imagine what they would do to DC? We would immediately have Texas' abortion and gun laws. DCPS may not be the model of school systems, but at least it is not be run by book burners. I am reminded of the quote, "Those who give up liberty for security deserve neither". DC's crime problem will not be solved by throwing more black men and boys in jail. Plenty of Republican-run areas are seeing rising crime as well. Trying to act like its all the fault of Charles Allen and Carl Racine is very myopic. If you want to be governed by Republicans, move to a Republican-run state. Then let us know how that works out for you.
