So, leave it to FCPS School Board to really F*** up the HS students taking NATIONAL EXAMS! They just found out that Eid is NOT on the date they planned it to be "observed". (don't know why it took this long to figure Eid out). Now, if the SB was not so busy creating drama with "equity" and prohibiting kids from taking NATIONAL tests on holidays that apply to only a few, this would not be a problem. But, now it IS a problem. They originally told everyone (until today) that May 3 is an "O" day for Eid, and no one can take the AP Psych or AP Environmental Sci tests on those days. Both tests had to move to the College Board's official make up day (May 17). I was not happy about this b/c my kid is taking both of these AP exams. And while it is nice to have extra time to prepare, the forced shift to the make-up day meant that my kid gets no make-up day. And she has to take both tests on the same day -- hope nothing happens and she isn't sick on May 17th. But then in today's newsletter from FCPS, there's this little ditty: _________________________________________________________________ Date Change for Eid-al-Fitr for the 2021-22 School Year Calendar The current “O” (religious and cultural observance) day for Eid-al-Fitr on FCPS’ 2021-22 School Year calendar was incorrectly listed as Tuesday, May 3. Please note that the correct date is Monday, May 2. We apologize for the error. View the updated 2021-22 School Year Calendar. _______________________________________________________________________ For most people, this is truly a footnote. But for kids taking AP Psych and AP Enviro, it apparently means that they are now taking those AP exams on May 3rd????? And SUPRISE to those who were planning to take AP US Gov, AP Chem, AP Spanish, or AP Japanese ---- > You probably aren't going to be taking your AP exam on May 2nd.... welcome to the make up date: May 17. Hope you aren't sick or don't actually need a make up b/c you aren't getting one.
