Anonymous wrote: Some people have dual citizenship and deep roots in more than one country. Many athletes can’t qualify for the US and can for another country, and want to be Olympians. [b] Honestly, your outrage about this is ridiculous and baffling. It’s a skiing or speed skating contest, or something similar. It’s not like they are working in the CIA and spying for China. In the larger scheme of things, who cares what flag the woman who gets 6th in Skeleton has on her uniform? It’s like getting mad the the local HS football star turns down UVA for Alabama. Who cares? He did what worked best for him and what he feels advances his career. Maybe stop day drinking??? Wow, please tell me you aren't this dumb. Gu is clearly too stupid to see that she is being used as a political pawn by the CCP to further their agenda. And you are too stupid to see it too. It's a lot different than your stupid football analogy.
Just how does she "further their agenda"? Please be specific.
You are being willfully obtuse at this point. China loves to try to project soft power in order to advance their agenda on the world stage. What could possibly be better than taking a US citizen, flip them, and have them compete to win gold medals for your country (i.e China)? You completely underestimate how much countries like China and Russia take the Olympics seriously, because they love to use the Olympics as a platform as a way to display their power. Gu is just another pawn of the CCP to spread their agenda, and a pawn for a country currently committing some of the worst state sponsored human rights violations on the planet. You can't have it both ways - living in a country where you are free to speak your mind, yet representing a country where Uyghurs can't speak their mind and are being exterminated off the face of the planet. Complete hypocrisy.
