As near as I can tell, here is it. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?121+ful+SB484H2 Some observations: 1. I see this getting struck down because it requires the collection of information not necessary for determining gestational age, when the stated purpose of the bill is determination of gestational age. 2. I find it very funny that conservatives are eager to print the necessary materials in every relevant language spoken in VA. I thought you guys were English only?? 3. Apparently if an abdominal ultrasound doesn't work, the doctor has to verbally offer the alternative, but the patient can refuse. So no one needs to get a vaginal ultrasound so that someone can point to a gray oval on a sheet of paper. 4. If you drive more than 100 miles, you can get the procedure done with only a 2 hour wait. Sounds like someone needs to start a bus service. 5. Mother doesn't have to look at the ultrasound. It only gets offered. 6. They are really obsessed with fetal heart tones. Apparently there are all kinds of places ready to help you listen to a fetal heart beat for free, and they want you to know that. 7. The mother has to be informed of all of the possible psychological risks of abortion, but not the probability of those. And of course they do not have to be informed of any psychological risks of becoming a mother. 8. There is however also a requirement to provide a list of alternative services available to help mothers-to-be. One can only hope that they will be willing to spend the money to make those services compelling in order to avoid abortions. That would be a win for poor mothers.
