Is GC a better choice than public school for HS? MCPS is falling apart.
A friend of mine sent her son there + he liked it. She is super rich so the kid could have gone anywhere. He transferred there to play football. It is economically + ethnically diverse. Catholic School. Good luck with your choice.
Tuition is off the rails. 27+K? Thousands more (~ 5 thousand?) than even SJC, right? They're in a monied area and they know it. Let's be honest. What HHI qualifies for aid? Lets say to bring it down to 17K? Anyone know? Even pretty well off Catholic families with 3 or 4 kids are going to choke on 27K when HS rolls around.
One thing to keep in mind about GC versus SJC is that GC includes lunch and books in tuition. Also, if your child has learning differences, the Ryken program is included in tuition versus SJC’s Benilde program which is an additional $3500. I can’t say what the HHI is for aid, but most of the people I know that qualified for aid only got $5k per kid. A young woman I know at AHC received almost 3x the aid and scholarships to AHC than she did GC.
Thanks for the info. Anyone know what the general annual fee for lunch and books is, for Catholic schools?
